Just as the original moontower structures have been a mainstay in Austin since the 1800’s, the Austin Moontowers Baseball Club SEEKS to become an iconic fixture as well. The moontowers' light has shined on generations of Austinites for more than a century. And now, the MoontowerS Baseball Club will serve as another link from the city’s past to the present. Our team features nearly a dozen native Austinites, many who attended high school together. This core group of players epitomize the city’s heritage. But it doesn’t stop there. The Moontowers roster includes several of the new faces who came to Austin for the very reason so many have never left. (We also have four sets of fathers and sons!). This rich combination of personalities is the foundation of what hopes to become not only a baseball team but so much more.
Founded by Jim Matthews and Elliott Hill in 2021, the former Reagan High School teammates learned about the growing sandlot baseball scene and knew they had to get involved. And so the Moontowers were born. The team’s goal is to become the truest representation of Austin sandlot baseball....hip, cool, zany and most importantly….welcoming and fun.
